Biological systems at the nano scale
"Biophysics is an interdisciplinary science that uses methods of physics to study biological systems. Biophysical research shares significant overlap with nanotechnology, bioinformatics, biomateriales or bioengineering . This is a multidisciplinary group with experience in different aspects of materials science, both from experimental and theoretical points of view. Research subject: dynamics of biomolecules (proteins, DNA, RNA ...) at the nano scale with bio-medical applications. Methods: Statistical Physics and All-Atom Molecular Dynamics Simulations (thousands of atoms can be analysed at the same time). Spatial and Temporal Scales: Nanometers and Femto-Nano seconds, respectively. All-atom molecuar dynamics simulations in biological systems is a technique that has been recently implemented at icma by this group."
