Applied superconductivity
The Applied Superconductivity group is working since 1987 in the fabrication and characterization of different superconducting materials relevant to power applications.
The current research lines are the processing of materials and coatings by laser techniques, the manufacturing of MgB2 wires by powder-in-tube procedure, and the magnetic, electrical and thermal characterization and simulation of superconducting materials and devices.
Moreover, with the aim of applying and transferring this knowledge to industrial companies, special interest is given to electric power applications that achieve a more efficient use of the energy.
